Congress passed and President Donald Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act on July 4, 2025. It changed SNAP work-rule exceptions and noncitizen eligibility. Florida says veterans, people experiencing homelessness, former foster youth age 24 or younger, and households responsible for a dependent child age 14 or older are no longer automatically exempt from the ABAWD time limit.
Protect the case: Ask DCF to identify in writing which work rule applies and whether a medical, caregiving, treatment, pregnancy, disability, or other exemption applies. Do not assume a person is ineligible.
